This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soulmate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.

TV: Scandal wants you to know that Jake will be back for Season 3

Scott Foley has been promoted to series regular on ABC’s breakout Shonda Rhimes drama Scandal, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

"I’m thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people," Foley said in a statement. "Shonda and company have created a troupe of layered, complex characters, and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling."

Foley joined Scandal for the second half of its sophomore season as Jake, a mysterious military guy with a connection to the president (Tony Goldwyn). While working on assignment to protect Olivia (Kerry Washington), he soon saw their relationship turn romantic and then end after she learned he was spying on her for Fitz.

In May’s season finale, it’s revealed that the spy working for the mysterious B613 organization run by Olivia’s father (Joe Morton) was a good guy after all and refused to turn on her. He was last seen being thrown into a hole where Huck had been isolated until he dedicated his life to the shady organization.

Foley currently stars on Fox’s low-rated The Goodwin Games, which, after having its order reduced, is being burned off during the summer. The series is not expected to continue beyond its initial run.

The actor recently announced his directorial debut with brother-in-law Patrick Wilsonon Ward’s Wife starring Donald Faison.

Foley, whose credits also include Felicity and an arc on HBO’s True Blood, is repped by ICM Partners, Brillstein Entertainment and Sloane Offer.

Five Great Online Resources for Women Entrepreneurs

Business is business, right?  The numbers are either in the black column or the red one, regardless of whether you’re wearing a tie or a skirt.  So the majority of business advice, like the articles, podcasts and blog entries posted each week here on StartupNation, is just as applicable to women entrepreneurs as it is to men.  However, there are some areas of business ownership, such as securing traditional financing, that tend to pose a greater challenge for women entrepreneurs.  Additionally, many women have a desire to connect with, support and learn from other emerging and established female business owners.  Particularly those who’ve been there, done that and can help us navigate some of the pitfalls as well as inspire us to reach new heights.

Five excellent resources for women entrepreneurs

Ladies Who Launch - Ladies Who Launch is a media company focused on providing resources and connections for women entrepreneurs. The Ladies Who Launch mission is to make entrepreneurship accessible to any woman with a project, dream or aspiration to start her own business and be successful. The website provides community, tools, resources and success stories.

National Association of Women Business Owners - This premier organization for women entrepreneurs has tons of resources to help you build your business, including discounts on useful products and services for members, such as an offer from Wells Fargo to waive the opening fee for a business credit line. Their free newsletter, which is worth signing up for, provides brief summaries of relevant articles on national business trends, economic issues, networking, effective presentations and sales strategies.

eWomenNetwork -  Like the name says, this one is all about networking. Members can receive free coaching, connect with other women entrepreneurs and promote their products or services to the most visited, membership-based women’s networking organization on the internet.

Center for Women’s Business Research - If you’re in need of compelling numbers to help build your case when seeking financing, government contracts or support, this site offers a wealth of information which is organized for quick access.  Their annual Executive Roundtable offers high-level advice and networking opportunities in a one-day format.

Make Mine a Million Business - The sole goal of this organization is to help women-owned businesses pass the million-dollar mark.  Depending on the size of your business, you can apply for a program award, which includes up to $45,000 in financing and a year of mentoring from a team of business advisors, or a micro loan of up to $10,000 from Count Me In For Women’s Economic Independence, which created its program to award loans based on other factors besides credit history.  Already up the business curve and want to give back?  You can also volunteer to be a mentor to other women entrepreneurs.

Tap into the experience of other women entrepreneurs

At times, venturing into entrepreneurship can feel a bit like you’re hanging out on a branch all by yourself with no tree trunk in sight.  But with online resources like these - and the StartupNation community , of course - women entrepreneurs can tap into the inspiration, tools and support you need to turn your business ambitions into business realities.

Tami Anderson and Elizabeth Howland co-founded andHow Marketing, and have 35 years combined experience marketing to women across a variety of consumer goods and services.

So this is Shirley B. Eniang. Her vlogs are great and out of the (almost) 200 videos she has, you will learn something or just enjoy the style of her tutorial. Although a lot of you are amazing with hair (and some of you don’t even have a license), unfortunately I am not that girl sooo I definitely love these vids.  Feel inspired. Create your own channel so that we can support.

If you don’t know, now you know! You can learn how to do ANYTHING on YouTube—-even things I will not mention in this entry (wink-wink ladies). No lie! Its crazy. You can learn how to fly a kite (ok, I know) to how to do a fishtail braid. Soon YouTube will be giving out diplomas because its crazy everything you can do. In a few I will upload one of my favorite YouTube personalities. I enjoy her tutorials on beauty, fashion and just great talk. Check it out if you don’t know. Please forward any channels you would love for us to know about or if you have a YouTube Channel, do tell and we will put it up…

Love ya!

P.S. Some of you may already know about it but be patient with those of us who just made the discovery.

This is tough topic but it happens often in our lives, so here are some SUGGESTIONS that may help to ‘grin and bear it’ and more importantly stay true to your friend.

Before you speak to your friends about your feelings, it is best you make sure your concerns are facts or opinion based. For instance, you may feel like the job your friend’s boyfriend holds is not up to standard. This is an opinion (please note, I am speaking of a legal job). If your friend’s boyfriend calls of out of her name and disrespects her in public, that’s a fact. Weigh the facts and opinions and then decide if its even worth the conversation. If the facts of her relationship seem to put your friend in a situation that you have concern for, then its time for the next step..

Approach the subject in a gentle, loving and non-judgemental way. Chances are, your friend (especially if she is in love) will be defensive and the conversation may be very uncomfortable for both of you. Remind her that you just wanted to be honest and regardless of her response, be sure to tell her that at the end of the day regardless of what she decides to do with her relationship, she has your love and support. We make the mistake of setting ultimatums or warnings to our friends when they don’t react the way we want to do regarding their relationships. Don’t do it. It will come off as if you are trying to be controlling and that isn’t cool.

Low self esteem and unhealthy relationship patterns is one of the main reasons why some of us find ourselves in dysfuctional situations. Knowing this, be a friend by building your friend up and reminding her that she is worthy of a partner that loves and respects her.

The worst thing you can do is go and gossip to others about your feelings and your friend’s relationship. It doesn’t help and it is a betrayal to your friendship.

The focus is to be a friend and do whatever your can to support her. If your friend is being abused, step in and encourage her to call the following phone number:

24 Hour National Hotline: Call 1-888-7HELPLINE

Do you have other tips that may help? Do you agree with the suggestions?
